The Martingale system is one of the oldest betting strategies and is based on increasing the stake after every losing bet. The main idea is to recover previous losses when the next winning bet occurs and return to the original target profit.
For example, a bettor starting with 100 TL may increase the next stake to 200 TL after a loss. If that bet also loses, the next stake becomes 400 TL, followed by 800 TL and so on.
How Does the Martingale System Work?
In the classic Martingale strategy, the stake is doubled after every loss:
100 TL → 200 TL → 400 TL → 800 TL → 1,600 TL
In theory, when a winning bet eventually occurs, the profit from that bet covers the previous losses and leaves a profit equal to the initial stake.
However, the biggest weakness of the system is that the required bankroll increases extremely quickly during a losing streak.
What Are the Risks of the Martingale System?
The Martingale system does not guarantee profits. A long sequence of losing bets can require extremely large stakes and may result in significant financial losses.
